It's been awhile...

It's been awhile since I posted...a world has changed, my world has changed. I have dealt with alot of death these past few years...death of  my children, of grandparents, and my father in law. I lost my voice, my direction, my sense of purpose, my sense of right and wrong, my identity. I am no longer the man I was and I have no idea as to the man I want to be. I thought I knew, but knowing and being are slightly different.

There are no promises
there are no guarantees
there are no natural laws that ensure success, or 'blessings' or good fortune
Karma exists to some extent, like a single inch on ruler-there is some measurement but not entirely reflective of the whole.
Life doesn't offer any promises,
but it does offer hope.
Like the longing of spring in the dead of winter,
a crocus peaks its tiny frame above the blanket of snow.

A man is only as good as his word...

At first I took offense to this add. To be a male one should always have to wear the pants, ie. always be in control??? Ahh such american male bravado! But then I thought about it a little bit more the just the words of the ad rather I focused on the connotation the image evokes in me. A man is his words. That is all we are. That is how we are known- and how our masculinity should be measured.
Are not our words all that will remain after our bodies are long gone? Are not the words which we speak /or don't speak that will last in the hearts of our loved ones long after are bodies return to the dust from whence it came?
